“Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides and, following them, you reach your destiny.”
—Carl Schurz
Is it realistic to watch a televised strongman contest in which every competitor is lifetime drug-free? Will the Olympic Games ever return to the purity and nobility of true amateurism? Will the strength world ever be more impressed with a raw, clean, high-bar, rock-bottom 700-pound squat than the ubiquitous, wrapped-up, strapped-up, juiced-up, 1000-pound pseudo-good mornings we've been witnessing lately?
PROBABLY NOT.
But in the same way we look to the night sky at stars that long ago ceased to exist, we can at least continue to search for the light!
