Strong of Soul
“Choose rather to be strong of soul than strong of body.”—Pythagoras
Pythagoras isn't decrying the merits of muscle. As tradition holds that he was a mentor to our beloved iron ancestor Milo of Croton, we can be reasonably certain that Pythagoras was all for might and muscle. The Greek sage is merely stating that those who prize the soul over the body will never be disappointed; while those who prize the body over the soul will never be satisfied.
