Ok, you missed the deadline for the next USA Weightlifting (USAW) Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certification Course taught by three-time USA Olympic weightlifting team coach Jim Schmitz, but this doesn’t mean you are condemned to doing concentration curls or nasty looking excuses for power cleans.
USAW, the national governing body for the Olympic sport of weightlifting, announced a new course at the beginning of this year.
Called the USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach Certification Course, it combines topics that had previously been covered in two separate USAW courses—the Club Coach course and the Sports Performance Coach course.
Described by the USAW as being, “designed for Strength & Conditioning / Sports Performance Coaches, Health & Fitness Instructors, Weightlifting Coaches, Personal Trainers, and anyone who wants to increase their knowledge and performance of Olympic Style Weightlifting training and methods,” this course is also a stepping stone toward USAW Level 1 Weightlifting Coach certification.
