Surprise In The 62s

(Antalya, Turkey) Henadzi Aliashchuk (BLR) surprised a lot of people by winning the 62-kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships today. Aliashchuk was third in the snatch, with 137.5, following Li (CHN) who did 142.5 and Pechalov, who also did 137.5. Aliashchuk jerked a world record 181.0 for a 317.5 total. Li was second, at 305 and Georgiev (BUL) was third at 302.5. Pechalov, the defending Olympic champion, did not come out for the clean and jerk.
