SCL Canada 2012: Format, Start List Announced

Strongman Champions League Canada in association with the Festival Hommes Forts Warwick has announced what organizer Jean Fréchette calls “a real North American battle” in the world of strongman.

The format is “five athletes from Canada versus five athletes from the United States.
“From Canada we have: Christian Savoie, Louis-Philippe Jean, Jean-François Caron, Scott Cummine and Paul Vaillancourt. Facing them: Adam Scherr, Brad Dunn, Dave Ostlund, Josh Thigpen and Nick Best.
“10 events over a two-day competition.
“The total prizes money is $16,000. Every athletes will receive at least $1,000. First place is $4,000, second is $3,000 and third is $2,000.
“We are also hosting an amateur competition, a semi-pro competition and a strongwoman competition.
“Warwick will be THE place for strength,” said Fréchette with a smile.
SCL cofounder Marcel Mostert told IronMind he is very pleased with the development of this contest: “This was the goal last year, to set up a new strongman circuit in Canada, connected to SCL.”
