Celebrating his 50th birthday today, Odd Haugen set a blistering pace carrying an 800-pound yoke 100 feet in 18.15 seconds. Staged in front of the Gorden Biersch brewery and restaurant in Honolulu, Odd wanted to see how fast he could go, and he had the goal of beating the time set by Svend Karlsen in the finals of the 1999 "World's Strongest Man" TV show, where Karslen carried an 800-pound yoke 30 meters in just over 20 seconds. Besides being a lot of fun, Odd said the event was a fund raiser for the Special Olympics.
