In the first day of the Norway's Strongest Viking contest, the old Norwegian backlift record of 940 kg was broken by every competitor. Roy Holte won the backlift with 1400 kg, Olaf Dahl was second with 1350 kg, and Sveinung Tangstad was third with 1300 kg. Roy Holte also won the one-arm deadlift with a 240 kg lift. Sveinung Tangstad was second with 220 kg, and Olaf Dahl was third with the same weight.
