John Foelber, a former competitive long driver and owner of Renewed Strength LLC (Sykesville, MD) has certified on the Crushed-To-Dust! Challenge, proving his exceptional all-around grip strength.
John Foelber is 37 years old and his private training studio focuses on golf fitness. John was a competitive long driver from 2006-2013 and competed the ReMax World Long Drive finals in Mesquite Nevada in 2013.
Even though John’s business and professional training career revolve around golf fitness, he told IronMind that his “personal pursuits focus on building grip strength and, more recently, the formal sport of armlifting.” He recently competed at the Arnold Armlifting USA championship, where he tied Tanner Merkle’s 2019 90-kg division record with a 3” Saxon bar deadlift of 110 kg. He has also lifted a 172-lb. Thomas Inch replica dumbbell and York Fatman blob with both hands and doesn’t pass on hoisting a vintage deep-dish plate hub if given the chance.
“Training grip strength is unique to everyone. Some do it to improve athletic performance, others do it to compete in strength sports, and others do it to improve the quality of their lives," John told IronMind.
"Whatever the reason, grip strength is vital to a healthy, long, independent life, and if you don’t currently train your grip, there is no time like the present to start!”
