“The 2019 Canadian National Grip Sport Championships were a big success: Three athletes attempted the Crushed-to-Dust® (CTD) Challenge,” arm wrestler, grip competitor and contest organizer Eric Roussin told IronMind.
“I gave them the option to attempt the CTD Challenge before or after the contest. One chose to do it before, two chose to do it at the end. Only one was successful: Jeff Slater.
“His main goal for the day was to successfully complete the challenge, because he had attempted it on two other occasions and came up short. He was thrilled to nail it this time!
“Jeff is a competitive armwrestler (2-time national champion) and regularly uses the Rolling Thunder in his armwrestling training, using a thumbless grip. For him, grabbing the Rolling Thunder using a standard grip is actually more difficult, but he was able to do it for the Crushed-to-Dust Challenge,” said Roussin (CTD '16).
The Crushed-to-Dust Challenge has three elements:
• closing a No. 2 Captains of Crush (CoC) gripper
• lifting 20 kg on the IronMind Hub
• lifting 90 kg on the Rolling Thunder
Congratulations, Jeff, and many thanks, Eric: Jeff’s name has been added to the official Crush-to-Dust certification list.
