As part of Mike Saffell’s East Ohio Grip Championships, competitors could take a crack at the Crushed-To-Dust Challenge, and Jason Dingey succeeded.
The Crushed-To-Dust Challenge has three elements:
Closing a Captains of Crush® No. 2 gripper
Lifting 20 kg/45 lb. on the IronMind Hub
Lifting 90 kg/200 lb. on the Rolling Thunder®
Proving himself to have superior all-around grip strength, Jason flew through the tasks at hand, and his name has been added to the official certification list for the Crushed-To-Dust Challenge.
"I started weight training over 30 years ago," Jason told IronMind. "I had a brief strongman career around 2003, until knee injuries forced me to stop. I’ve trained on and off since then. Best gym lifts are 500-lb. bench press, 585x5 squat, and 585x4 deadlift. When Mike Saffell told me about his grip competition a couple months ago, I started training grip regularly. Ive discovered grip contests can provide me with a competitive outlet, despite my various injuries. My wife Melissa also started grip training and competed with me in the East Ohio Grip Championships."
Congratulations, Jason, and many thanks Mike for hosting this competition at Saffell Performance Training LLC, sanctioned by Armlifting USA.
