Fabled weightlifting coach Ivan Abadjiev will remain as head of the Bulgarian team. Earlier, there had been rumors that he might go to Turkey, to help Naim Suleymanoglu prepare for a possible attempt at his fourth Olympic gold medal next year. More recently, after a number of Bulgarian weightlifters started to lift for Qatar, rumors began to circulate that Mr. Abadjiev might leave Bulgaria for any number of different countries. Following the Bulgarian weightlifting team's return home from the recent World Weightlifting Championships in Athens, Greece, a number of meetings took place, and the result is that Mr. Abadjiev will remain in Bulgaria.
