He had a pile of them, but one of grip legend Mike Burke’s most memorable performances was his 235-kg world record on the Apollon’s Axle—a no doubt about it lift that as lofty as it was, signaled that Burke (USA) had more gas in the tank.
Burke retired and left a gap at the top of the grip world, but Igor Kupinsky (Ukraine) is aiming to make some big news of his own as he plans to assault this record at the King of Iron Grip competition in Melitopol, Ukraine on December 22. Kupinski, in case you’ve not been following his career, is a former CoC Silver Bullet world record holder and armlifting world champion, and recently pulled a whopping 225 kg at the Azov Power Cup, for the absolute Ukrainian record on this benchmark lift in the grip strength world.
"Igor is preparing very hard for this event," Vitaliy Pulin told IronMind, so stay tuned for updates.
