IHGF Stones of Strength: Second Scottish Qualifier

The second round of qualifiers for the IHGF Scottish Stones of Strength Championships produced some big performances, including a world record on the Ardblair Stones.

This second qualifier for the IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Finals was held at the Alyth & District Agricultural Show, Bogles Field, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. In the men’s division, Janis Skujins set a blistering time of 27.04 seconds to set a new world record with the Ardblair Stones. In second was Jamie Gorrian, who also managed set all nine stones in a superb time of 31.74 seconds, and in third was Paul Adams, placing seven Ardblair Stones in 30.09 seconds.
In the women’s division, Pavlina Thomson took the victory, loading five Ardblair Stones in 15.11 seconds. Second was Stacey Douglas also loading five Ardblair Stones in 53.27 seconds.
Those who have qualified for the IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Finals in the men’s group are Janis Skujins, Jamie Gorrian and Paul Adams, and in the woman’s group, Pavlina Thomson, Stacey Douglas and Emmajane Smith.
The next IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National qualifier will take place at the Fettercairn Agricultural Show, 6 July, in Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire.
