Douglas Edmunds, Ph.D., president of IFSA International, explained that IFSA's structural reorganization from a federation to a corporation will help advance the state of strongman competitions. Edmunds said that shedding the previous organizational structure is more conducive to making deals that are in the best interest of the sport since it will allow IFSA to operate with the added professional clout of an actual business, run in a more formal manner. Edmunds said that the new structure will help IFSA shed any perception that it is a group of "keen rookies" ripe for exploitation, and will instead position the organization as one that comes to the bargaining table fully ready to make acceptable deals with appropriate business partners.
