TRENCIN, Slovakia - Halil Mutlu opened things with a bang at the European Weightlifting Championships by breaking his own world record in the clean and jerk. Starting when everyone else had finished in the 56-kg category. Mutlu took 168 kg on his second attempt, for a new world record in the jerk, and the first weightlifting world record set in 2001. Mutlu started his performance by going three for three in the snatch, ending with 135 kg.
