Zydrunas Savickas won, Brian Shaw was second, Stefan Solvi Petursson was third and Laurence Shahlaei was fourth at the Giants Live 2010 season finale in Istanbul last weekend, but the biggest news involved the Axle—with Zydrunas Savickas breaking the world record and Laurence Shahlaei breaking the British record.
“Big Z hit a 215 Axle!!!,” Giants Live tour director Colin Bryce reported to IronMind, adding, “Gregor [Edmunds] weighed it and it was good."
Not only did Laurence Shahlaei post a new British record in the Axle, he also did the unthinkable by putting heat on Zydrunas Savickas in one of Big Z's signature events.
“Big Z was really pushed for the first time in an Axle contest,” Bryce said. “Laurence even had a decent attempt at 215."
But lest anyone be too quick to bury Zydrunas, Bryce added, “I still believe there is another 5 to 10 kilos in Z's Axle if he absolutely had to do it.”
Stay tuned for the rematch!
