Didier Rolland, who had proposed a ranking system for strongman performances, has expanded his scope to include powerlifting, and has created the World Strongman and Powerlifting League (WSMPL). 

A website has been launched and Rolland told IronMind, “Zydrunas [Savickas] is the first to join us.  As you see, we have evolved to propose an official world ranking challenge where everyone can participate.  The first grand prix will take place at the end of next year or beginning of 2012.
