It began with Jon Eklund asking me, “When are you going to add world records on the CoC Silver Bullet with the Captains of Crush No. 4 gripper . . . weed out the weak!”

An interesting idea and this past weekend at the 2017 Los Angeles FitExpo, IronMind piloted the program and the world standard was set by the man who makes dominating grippers look so easy: Clay Edgin.

Edgin, owner of Santa Cruz Strength and a recovering gripaholic, only unleashes his formidable crushing grip strength in special situations these days, but when he does, it always makes waves.

No warmup, maybe a most recent gripper workout approximately 364 days ago, Edgin clamped down on the CoC Silver Bullet with a legendary Captains of Crush No. 4 gripper and held it for 5.62 seconds, which becomes the world standard—the inaugural world record must exceed this time by at least 5 seconds.
