Beauty & the Beast 2001. . .

The 2001 edition of the Beauty & the Beast strongman competition will be held in Hawaii on June 2nd. It will be a one-day, eight-event contest, and is expected to once again draw top competitors from both the U.S. and abroad.
The proposed format is three qualifying events, and five fainl events, with the top twelve competitors from the qualifying events going into the finals, and scores from all eight events counting for final placings. The proposed qualifying events are: log lift for reps, heavy medley, and an arm-over-arm pull. The proposed events for the final are the Apollon's Axle(TM) clean/continental + press/jerk, Hercules hold, keg toss for height, farmer's walk for distance, and the power stairs.
Expected prize money is US$6,000 for first place, US$3,500 for second place, and US$2,500 for third place. Current plans also call for a US$500 bonus for winning an event.
