When IronMind introduced the Apollon’s Axle in 1994 it quickly became a key player in strongman and grip contests worldwide, and at the recent Azov Power Cup, Ukrainian contest organizer Vitaliy Pulin unveiled an exciting variation of the standard Apollon’s Axle Double Overhand Deadlift, turning it into a tandem lift—with two athletes tackling the bar together.
Along with such grip world staples as the Rolling Thunder, and CoC (Captains of Crush) Silver Bullet Hold, Pulin ran pairs of women and pairs of men on the Apollon’s Axle, resulting in a new Ukrainian women’s and a new Ukrainian men’s record on the lift, as Natalia Penkova and Liudmila Haiduchenko pulled 220 kg, and Yaroslav Apalkov and Mykola Prezhyn pulled 350 kg.
