She’s 23, but has been climber for 12 years and when she “recently entered the world of grip strength,” Aggy St-Jacques did it with a bang: Aggy demolished at the women’s world record for Rolling Thunder Pull-ups, taking it from a very formidable 15 reps to 20.
"I come from a small town but moved to Gatineau when I was still a kid,” Aggy told IronMind. “That’s where I grew up, discovered my love for climbing, and where, now at 23 years old, I’m part of an awesome team that opened a climbing gym I can call home.”
Veteran grip competitor, promoter and ambassador, Eric Roussin told IronMind, “Aggy St-Jacques made her world record attempt at my venue of the International King Kong Grip Challenge. She did it right before the contest and managed 20 reps!
“Aggy has been climbing competitively since she was a small child. She co-owns a climbing gym with her father and has tremendous pound-for-pound strength. She discovered the world of grip in July and this was just her second contest.
“By the way, after her pull-up attempt she proceeded to easily win the 63 kg division while being the lightest competitor in the class. In the pound-for-pound standings, she finished only second behind the great Tammy McClure!,” Roussin said.
