Warsaw, Poland – The IWF Calendar for 2003 has next year's World Weightlifting Championships scheduled for November 12th to the 22nd, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Anticipating a very high number of competitors, the meet organizers had planned to accommodate them by using two platforms, as was done in Athens at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships, but the IWF asked the meet directors to only use one platform.  Thus, explained Guy Greavette, President of the Organizing Committee, the contest will have to be extended two days from the originally scheduled dates.

The event, which is an Olympic Qualifier, will be tremendous, Greavette said, and it will give North American weightlifting fans a chance to see the world's top weightlifters without having to travel halfway around the world.
