The 38th edition of the Golden West Open is scheduled for November 3rd, and it will be a "last chance" qualifier for the 2001 American Open.

The Golden West is America's "longest-running local weightlifting meet," said Gus JaFolla, vice president of the Pacific Weightlifting Association (PWA).  This year's event will be held at Chico State University (Chico, California), and is "the first-ever USA Weightlifting meet held at Chico State," JaFolla said.
