Han Rui (Joey) Wang has let not moss grow under his feet since he certified on the world-renown Captains of Crush (CoC) No. 3 gripper as a 17-year old: he has just broken the teenage world records for Rolling Thunder Pull-ups (max weight and repetitions).
“I’ve adjusted my schedule to train the Rolling Thunder once a week, allowing my body to adapt to its demands. My current focus is on pursuing as many certifications offered by GripSociety, as I enjoy collecting certificates across different disciplines of grip strength,” Wang told IronMind.
“Alongside this, I aim to continue improving on my existing world record and work towards raising the maximum weight benchmark, as well as breaking more teenage world records. For this year, that should be enough, but the hunger shall return, for the man who has tasted strength is not so easily satisfied,” said Wang.
Proving his point, Wang notched a max weight Rolling Thunder Pull-up with a total of 140.25 kg.
Not content to stop there, Wang said, ““Now I’m going after the maximum reps record, and I’m doing it at a bodyweight of 101 kg.
"Eighteen reps at that weight is what I’m proudest of. Pull-up records are usually dominated by leaner athletes, while heavier lifters are often told that their size puts them at a disadvantage. I reject that mindset. My bodyweight is simply the load I have to move, and every rep at 101 kg demands more strength to execute. Being heavy isn’t the problem. The only limit is how strong I can become. In my view, I’m not too heavy. I’m just too weak,” said Wang.
