17-year old Han Rui (Joey) Wang demolished the Rolling Thunder® Teenage Men's Two-Arm Pull-up World Record (maximum weight) with a 120-kg success . . . which he did for 7 reps.
“I only discovered Rolling Thunder pull ups about a month ago. After my CoC #3 certification," Wang told IronMind, "I took quite some time away from grip, unsure of where to go next and a little tired of repeating the same exercises, so I began pursuing a few side quests instead.
“Having always enjoyed compound and free-weight movements, I was immediately drawn to them.
“Balancing training with the academic pressure of my final year of high school, however, has
required an iron mind.
“This accomplishment likely comes from five years of training with weights, alongside this
year’s serious focus on grip. But I also owe a great deal to my family, who have supported
me throughout that time. My dad was the one who first introduced me to training, and much
of my interest in strength came from those early years of training together.
“My mum has always been equally important in her own way, putting a great deal of care into our family’s nutrition and making sure we had a good foundation outside the gym.
“I’ve also found a lot of enjoyment in helping my older twin brother train, which has made strength something we could share as a family.
“Looking back, I’m grateful for the part each of them has played in this journey. The result may be mine, but it was never built entirely by me.
“I’d like to give credit to Justin Wang for helping to film this video,” Joey Wang told IronMind.
Wang is 183 cm (about 6 ft.) tall, and weighs 103 kg (about 227 lb.).
