“This weekend the 5th US World Grip Championships will be held at the Nordic Fitness Expo in Lahti, Finland and approximately 20 athletes will be battling it out for drug-tested grip championships titles,” Jyrki Rantanen told IronMind.

“As usual, [in terms of teams] the tightest battle will be between Finland and Norway as the competitors list include names like Thomas Larsen from Norway, Jesse Pynnönen and Harri Tolonen, both Finns, and on the women’s side Jaana Tanner (Finland) will be challenged by Hilde Holtaby (Norway).

Rantanen also noted the name change to WHEA World Grip Championships and he said that in 2020, for the first time, the competition will not be held in Finland, with the location to be announced later this year.

Meanwhile, he added, “We are glad to announce the 2020 events, so all athletes have a good chance to train for it.”
