Giants Live at Gateshead/Newcastle

The second event of the final weekend of qualification for the World's Strongest Man contest is Gateshead/Newcastle in England. This event is featuring all of Great Britain's finest athletes and a few world class stars.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 3rd at Gateshead International Athletics Stadium. It follows in the wake of the colossally successful  Europe's Strongest Man at Leeds, Headingly.

Once again master promoter Darren Sadler is the driving force behind the event. After hitting a whopping 6,500 fans for the Europe's Strongest Man event in June doing a second UK event was a must. With the current rivalry in Britain the Gateshead event is expected to be as good if not better.

What adds that extra zip to the event in Gateshead is the fact that the top Brit will be crowned as the British Champion and the places at the Wolrd's Strongest Man contest just two weeks later are at stake.

The event the crowd may enjoy most is the maximum deadlift. A good warm up for WSM as it is one of the events in the final in China. Terry Hollands amongst others is in shape to trouble the Strongman Deadlift World Record - 442kg.

The World's Strongest Man contest starts on August 17th in Sanya, China. This final weekend of Giants Live will answer the questions people have been asking for a few months. Who will be going to the World's Strongest Man?
