Two days and six events later, four champions were crowned at the Europa Show of Champions America’s Strongest Man® qualifier in Orlando, Florida last weekend.
ASC president Dione Wessels told IronMind®, “Justin Blake and Dave Mihalov, respectively the 2008 and 2009 105-kg America’s Strongest Man® winners, battled [it out], with Dave Mihalov edging out Blake. Scott Weech and Brian Turner battled for supremacy in the heavyweights, with Scott Weech getting the win.
“The lightweight amateur division saw a fight between Josh Cybart and Andy Deck. Cybart was impressive with a huge 340-lb. log press, but Deck had the most complete two days and earned the pro card. Ryan Bracewell controlled both days of the competition, pushing back the rest of the field with a 10-point lead after two days and [got] the pro-card win.
“The competition was fast and exciting, and at this level sometimes it is hard to determine the amateurs from the pros,” said Wessels. “All the athletes put on a great show!”
