Cesare Ricchezza Certifies on the IronMind Red Nail

Recent law school graduate Cesare Ricchezza has been certified on the IronMind Red Nail, so if he ever needs to make a dramatic impression in the courtroom or in his office, he’s ready for the task.

If this picture of Cesare Ricchezza looks familiar it’s because you saw it when he certified on the Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper last year—this time, though, Cesare’s certified on the IronMind Red Nail. Cesare says he is close to certifying on the Captains of Crush No. 3.5 gripper, so remember this picture—you might be seeing it again in the near future. IronMind® | Courtesy of Cesare Ricchezza

“I was thin when I graduated from high school, but met two guys who were into weight lifting when I went away to college,” Cesare told IronMind. “They took me to the gym and I fell in love with the training. I started reading everything I could about weight training. Weight lifting is now a huge part of my life.

“I got into grip training when I learned about Magnus Samuelsson’s incredible hand strength. I was watching the ‘World’s Strongest Man’ competition and they mentioned that Magnus Samuelsson is one of only 5 people who had certified on the Captains of Crush No. 4 gripper. I researched the grippers on the internet and ordered a couple of them. It took me several months of hard training, but was able to certify on the Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper in April 2012. Grip training led me to steel bending. I needed a new challenge so I made it my goal to certify on the IronMind Red Nail.

“I struggled with steel bending at first because my poor shoulder flexibility made it difficult to get into the proper bending position.  This was frustrating, but I didn’t let it stop me. I trained hard for over a year and half to refine my steel bending technique and accomplish this goal. I want to thank Mike Sharkey, John Wojciechowski, Brian Burgos and Nathaniel Brous for motivating me. These gentlemen are my training partners and they have all certified on the red nail this year as well. I’m very proud of our group. I also want to thank John Felletter for serving as my referee.

“I’m currently training to certify on the Captains of Crush No. 3.5 gripper. I have already come extremely close to closing this gripper under certification conditions in training. I know it will take a lot of intense training but I’m looking forward to this next challenge,” said Cesare.

IronMind would like to thank John Felletter for refereeing on Cesare's official attempt to bend an IronMind Red Nail—a successful effort that put Cesare on the Red Nail Roster.
