Andrus Murumets is one of three men in the world who have been certified on at least the No. 3 Captains of Crush gripper and held the world record on the Rolling Thunder®; plus he turned the Timber Walk at the Arnold into the Timber Run; and he’s been an overall winner in the Strongman Champions League—it’s an impressive resume, especially when one considers how casually the laidback Estonian powerhouse notched some of these accomplishments.

Underneath, though, stress was taking its toll, and when IronMind inquired about where Andrus had been lately, Marcel Mostert mentioned that some heart problems had sidelined him, so we wasted no time checking in with the Estonian grip strength and strongman star.
“Yes, I have some problems,” Andrus Murumets told IronMind, “but the doctors have controlled [tested] me with machines and all [the] tests were ok, no problems. Probably I was overtrained and family grows last year and I can’t sleep so much [as] I want and [have] too much stress.
“Now is ok, just not so much motivation any more.
“Also I opened my own gym and this have taken lots of energy for me. I sold Gymleco Swedish machines in Estonia and we decided to open [my] own gym also. They are very good machines.
“I hope that I can start hard training . . . and be back next year.”
