Adding his name to the prestigious certification list for the Captains of Crush No. 3 Gripper, Finland’s 24-year old Lucas Lindberg has proven he has world class grip strength.
Asked how he was introduced to Captains of Crush (CoC) grippers, Lindberg told IronMind, “I guess I just kind of crashed into them o the internet and I wanted to give them a try so I ordered the No. 1 and could barely close it the first time I tried.
“I train my grip 3-4 times per week with grippers, pinch blocks, fat bars and block weights. In my gripper workouts i usually warm up with light grippers then go for 2-3 sets of 3-7 reps with the Captains of Crush No. 3 using a set block, finishing with a couple of singles with the No. 3.5 or some CoC Silver Bullet holds.
Complementing this workout, Lindberg also trains over the full range of motion and includes sets to failure: “Next gripper training would be with the credit card set, warming up normally then going for 3-4 sets of 1-3 reps with the Captains of Crush No. 3 finishing with AMRAP [as many reps as possible) on the Captains of Crush No. 2.5.
“I work in our family owned construction company as a wheel loader operator. I have been competing grip in Finland. I have lifted an Inch dumbbell replica and pinched 2 20-kg plates, but I am at my best with grippers and blockweights. My goals for this year would be the CoC No. 3 certiification, Crushed-To-Dust! Challenge certification and to lift the enormous Gladiator Blob weighing in at 30 kg. I have also practiced steel/nail bending, maybe certify on the Red Nail next year,” said Lindberg.
Standing about 186 cm (approximately 6’ 1-1/2”) tall and weighing about 105 kg (approximately 231 lb.) also has his eye on strongman: “I will start my career in strongman this summer in a beginners competition in Finland.”
Congratulations, Lucas, your name has been added to the official Captains of Crush No. 3 gripper certification list, and many thanks to Juergen Garschall for officiating on Lucas’s official attempt.
