“The IHGF regretfully announces the cancelation of the IHGF World Amateur Highland Games Championships,” Francis Brebner reported to IronMind.
Scheduled for Riga, Latvia and “hosted by Vlad Redkin, founder of the World Strength Federation,” Brebner said, “Redkin made the announcement that the Worlds have been cancelled due to political issues and the sudden withdrawal of financial support from the city of Riga.
“The IHGF is to inform all athletes that they will be compensated for any losses due to this unfortunate situation by Redkin.
“Due to these unfortunate circumstances, there will be no World Amateur Championships hosted for 2012,” Brebner said.
