Insanity
“I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.”—Edgar Allan Poe
I knew it was crazy, when I was doing it, to write poems to large rocks and then cross oceans to make good on those threats. And I knew I was nuts to shoulder a barbell that would buckle most gym rats in two and then bang out twenty squats, oblivious to the fact that the last three reps would be performed outside my body in the fifth dimension. Yeah, I knew all this (and much more) was insane . . . I just never realized how unfulfilling the ensuing periods of sanity would be.
