The 1999 IFSA British Grand Prix-World Muscle Power Championship, scheduled for July 31-August 1, will continue its tradition of showcasing some of the leading competitors on the international strongman circuit. This year's entries include: Jouko Ahola, Raimonds Bergmanis, Glenn Ross, Hugo Girard, Regin Vagadal, and Mark Philippi. Philippi, who has been out of competition for approximately nine months due to an injury, is aiming to compete in this year's "World's Strongest Man" contest, and said he will be using the British Grand Prix-World Muscle Power Championship "as a training tool, to see where I'm at."
