Contrary to recent rumors, Idalberto Aranda's world record set at the Pan American Games stands. Based on an erroneous report, rumors had been circulating that Aranda (CUB) had tested positive at the Pan American Games, where he cleaned and jerked a world record 205.5 kg in the 77 kg class. "Aranda was absolutely negative, so that the senior world record he set at the Games still stands," said Murray Levin, NACACI and Pan American President.
