The 2019 schedule has been announced for the IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish Nationals, with a six-event qualifying series leading up the finals in September.

Charlie Blair Oliphant, IHGF representative for Scotland, has announced the qualifying schedules for the 2019 IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Finals. There will be six qualifying events spanning the length and breadth of Scotland, from Glasgow in the south to Aboyne in the north.

3. Fettercairn Agricultural Show – Saturday, 6 July 2019, Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire
4. Kirriemuir Agricultural Show – Saturday, 13 July 2019, Kirriemuir, Angus
5. Donald Dinnie Day: The Gathering III – Sunday, 4 August 2019, Potarch, Aberdeenshire
6. Blairgowrie Rugby & Ale Festival – Saturday, 10 August 2019, Blairgowrie, Perth & Kinross
7. Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games: IHGF Scottish Stones of Strength National Finals –Sunday, 8 September 2019, Blairgowrie, Perth & Kinross
        
The qualifying events will require competitors to lift the world-famous Ardblair Stones, nine stones of increasing weight and diameter, onto wooden whisky barrels 132 cm (52 in.) in height. The Ardblair Stones range in weight from 18 kg (40 lb.) to 152 kg (335 lb.). The event will be judged on time taken and the number of stones successfully loaded. Tacky will not be permitted on the stones.
 
The top two men and the top two women from each event will qualify for the 2019 IHGF Stones of Strength Scottish National Finals at the 2019 Blairgowrie & Rattray Highland Games on Sunday, 8 September. The Scottish male and female champions will then go on to represent Scotland at the 2020 IHGF Stones of Strength World Challenge in Fefor, Norway.
